We are thrilled to have achieved Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications. Chris Curtis, IT Manager, has devoted significant effort over the past six months to secure these accreditations, which involved extensive external and internal testing of our IT security and networks.
What exactly are Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?
Cyber Essentials is a program designed to help organizations safeguard themselves against online threats. It is overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and endorsed by the UK government. The program entails implementing a set of technical controls and undergoing annual assessments to demonstrate our commitment to best practices in information security. It’s also a requirement for certain public sector contracts.
Cyber Essentials Plus takes the basic assessment to a more advanced level within the Cyber Essentials Scheme. It offers a higher level of assurance compared to the standard Cyber Essentials certification. The main goal of Cyber Essentials Plus is to confirm the effectiveness of the five fundamental security controls outlined in the scheme through a technical audit that simulates hacking and phishing attacks.
What this achievement means for us
By obtaining the Cyber Essentials Plus certification, we are demonstrating our unwavering dedication to cybersecurity and assuring our customers that we prioritise data protection. The certification process involves an independent evaluation conducted by a qualified and impartial assessor who thoroughly assesses our security controls. Consequently, it serves as a strong indicator of our commitment to best practices.
This certification ensures that we are better shielded against IT threats and provides our clients (as well as our staff) with the confidence that their data is in trustworthy hands.
